Overview Based on the powerful combination of the PLX PCI-9080 I2O Compatible PCI Bus Master I/O Accelerator Chip and the Motorola® PowerQUICCTM 860 processor, the PLX PCI 9080RDK-860 Reference Design Kit provides a complete hardware and software development environment for the engineer or project manager. Developed for those who must master the complexities of PCI and I2OTM design in today's hectic world of time to market schedules and rapid deadlines, the RDKs are fully PCI 2.1 compliant and provide a complete PCI hardware and software development reference for telecommunications, internetworking or data communications design. With the PCI 9080RDK-860, PCI development and specification compliance risks are minimized, allowing design engineers the peace of mind to concentrate on their own core competencies. To ensure your adapter card or embedded system design is simple and painless, and done right the first time, each kit includes a set of software development tools in the form of the PLX PCI SDK. The PCI SDK features a complete set of tools for software programming including: PLXMonTM97, a comprehensive tool for PCI bus monitoring and debugging, extensive programming API libraries for Windows® NTTM and Windows 95® device drivers, a firmware debugging monitor with loader, and associated source code and user's manuals. P C I 9 0 8 0 Bus Mas t e r I/O A c c e l e r a t o r The PCI 9080 Bus Master I/O Accelerator interface chip available from PLX provides a compact, high performance PCI bus master interface for adapter boards and embedded systems. The PCI 9080 contains an I2O messaging unit implemented in its hardware that allows high performance and compatible software implementations of the I2O bus protocol specification. In addition, the local bus of the chip is programmable and can be configured to directly connect to a wide variety of processors, controllers and memory subsystems.
