    China 3C Group Reports Preliminary Second Quarter 2008 Financial Results

    HANGZHOU, China, July 10 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- China 3C Group (BULLETIN BOARD: CHCG) , a retailer and wholesale distributor of consumer and business products in China, today announced preliminary financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2008.

    Net sales for the second quarter 2008 is expected to be in the range of $81.5-$82.5 million, which would be a 26%-28% increase compared to the prior year second quarter results of $64.5 million.

    Net income for the second quarter 2008 is expected to be in the range of $7.3-$7.4 million, which would be a 33%-35% increase compared to the prior year second quarter results of $5.5 million. Second quarter 2008 diluted earnings per share is expected to be approximately $0.14 compared to $0.10 in the same period last year.

    Mr. Zhenggang Wang, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer commented, ''We are very pleased with our preliminary second quarter results, which exceeded our internal plan. Our sales growth benefitted from a net increase in new doors, healthy demand for electronic products in most of our key categories, a broader product selection from the prior year period as well as from certain, new consumer-oriented programs that focus on service and increasing awareness of our expanding portfolio of brands.

    Our net income improved largely due to increased sales results, the exit from unproductive doors as well as a lower tax rate in the second quarter compared to the prior year. We also anticipate a sequential improvement in gross margin for the second quarter. Overall, we are encouraged with our second quarter performance and continue to work aggressively to further enhance our position in China's electronic consumer industry,'' concluded Wang.

Electronics, Inc. , a turnkey provider of technology-based integrated electronic security solutions, and Verint Systems Inc. today announced that they have been contracted by Bronco Billy's Cripple Creek Casino and implemented an IP-based CCTV solution for the security and surveillance of its operations. Located against the Rocky Mountains in Cripple Creek, Colorado, the casino offers a wide array of gaming activities including 764 slot machines and 12 table games.

    As part of the multi-phase project, Henry Bros. is employing an integrated security solution with Verint's Nextiva(R) Critical Infrastructure platform in order to transform the casino's analog surveillance system into a robust, scalable IP-based system. With phase I and II already complete, 88 cameras have been integrated with the Verint Nextiva solution, allowing the casino to run an intelligent video network. In full operation, the IP system has been inspected and approved by the Colorado Gaming Commission (CGC), meeting new gaming commission requirements.

    Phase III of the project will allow an additional 92 cameras to be installed onto the system, providing a total of 180 cameras throughout the network. Bronco Billy's ultimate goal is to migrate all of its cameras over to the new IP-based system, bringing the total number on the system to nearly 300. While adhering to the stringent guidelines set forth by the CGC, the new system is expected to enhance the casino's operational flexibility, improve performance and dependability, and create a cost-saving base for further upgrades.

    Verizon Funds Native American Program to Help Prevent Domestic Violence in California Tribal Communities$99,000 Grant to California Indian Museum and Cultural Center Creates Domestic-Violence-Prevention Course for Young Native Americans

    ANAHEIM, Calif., July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Indian Museum and Cultural Center (CIMCC) will create an online education course funded by a $99,000 Verizon grant to teach young Native Americans ways to avoid becoming victims or perpetrators of domestic violence.

    "The statistics on teen domestic violence are alarming," said Elva Lima, Verizon's vice president of strategic programs. "Twenty percent of 13- to 14-year-olds in relationships know a victim of violence, but barely half of them recognize the warning signs of abusive relationships. The California Indian Museum and Cultural Center's new project is one of many innovative programs that Verizon is supporting throughout different cultural communities in California to combat the epidemic of domestic violence."

    The grant was announced Thursday (July 10) during the eighth annual For All My Relations conference hosted by the National Indian Justice Center (NIJC), which is collaborating with CIMCC on the program.

    "Violence prevention in tribal communities is an important public-health issue," said CIMCC Director Nicole Lim. "A communitywide partnership is required to address it effectively. Together with Verizon, we will empower Native youth to change their future."

    Native Americans between the ages of 18 and 24 have the highest risk of being exposed to violence in their communities. The program aims to teach young Native Americans about violence prevention before they reach this critical age.

    The Internet-based course will initially serve boys aged 12-17 from Riverside County's Morongo, Soboba and Pechanga tribes and eventually expand to serve young Native Americans from other tribes throughout the county and other parts of the state.

    The online course will promote violence-prevention techniques such as anger management and mediation and peer-to peer mentoring, and teach participants how to report violence if they experience it. CIMCC will measure participants' awareness level of these issues before and after they have engaged in the course, to assess the success of the program.

    TripAdvisor Helps iPhone Users Find Gourmet DelightFree Restaurant Application Available on Apple App Store

    General Dynamics Ships GeoEye-1 Satellite to Launch Site

    GILBERT, Ariz., July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems announced today that it has shipped GeoEye-1, a next-generation earth imaging satellite, to its launch site at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. The satellite departed from the General Dynamics space systems factory in Gilbert, Ariz., early on Wednesday, July 9, and arrived at Vandenberg late that same day. Launch is scheduled for August 22, 2008.
