Denver-Based Comcast Technician Armando Gentry Provides One Millionth Hour of Volunteer Service on Comcast Cares Day50,000 Comcast Employees, Families and Friends Improve Communities Nationwide

DENVER, May 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today, Comcast Technician Armando Gentry isn't installing digital cable, high-speed Internet or telephone service, but his efforts are of major significance to the company and the Denver community. Gentry is volunteering his time landscaping at Mount Saint Vincent Home, one of about 50,000 Comcast employees, their families and friends, and community members who are participating in the seventh annual "Comcast Cares Day."

Today, Comcast Cares Day volunteers will donate 300,000 hours of service, benefiting nearly 500 community organizations in 37 states and the District of Columbia. When combined with the donated hours of service from previous Comcast Cares Days, Gentry's time landscaping the grounds at Mount Saint Vincent marked the one millionth hour of volunteer service.

"Imagine the impact that one million hours of focused community investment can have on improving the quality of life for communities across the country," said David Cohen, Executive Vice President of Comcast Corporation, who announced the one millionth hour of volunteer service milestone at a kickoff event in Colorado with Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, Denver City Councilman Michael Hancock and about 400 Comcast employees and other volunteers.

"Comcast is a company that invests in the communities where our customers and employees live and work. This commitment makes me proud, and I know that Comcast employees love working for a company that cares," said Cohen.

"I am so honored to be singled-out as the Comcast volunteer to have served the one-millionth hour during Comcast Cares Day," Gentry said. "When Comcast Cares Day rolls around each year, I'm always ready to volunteer. It's one of the most rewarding days of my year, each year."

Gentry joined Comcast in 2002, and this year marks the fifth time Gentry has volunteered a Saturday to invest in the community where he lives and works. His past efforts have improved Denver-area parks, classrooms and low- income housing.

The Comcast Foundation will also donate more than $1.5 million in grants to local community partner organizations on behalf of each employee and family member who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year.

Comcast Partners With Four Vermont Nonprofits on Annual Day of Community ServiceLocal Volunteers Join Over 50,000 Nationwide On Annual Comcast Cares Day

BURLINGTON, Vt., May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 300 local Comcast employees and their family members and friends turned out in force today to volunteer at four Vermont nonprofit organizations from Winooski to Rutland as part of Comcast Cares Day, the company's annual day of community service and one of the nation's largest single-day corporate volunteer efforts.

Projects included sprucing up the Bennington Little League's ball fields, building community gardens and cleaning up parks in Winooski, painting the clubhouse at the Brattleboro Boys & Girls Club and painting and making improvements to the Rutland Community Cupboard.

"Comcast Cares Day is the cornerstone celebration of a 365-day a year commitment to the communities where our customers and our employees live and work," said Dan Blakeman, Vice President of Comcast in Vermont. "There is nothing more rewarding than giving back, and I'm grateful to the Comcast volunteers who have donated their time to help their neighbors throughout Vermont."

This year's Comcast Cares Day attracted more than 4,700 Comcast employees and their families to 50 different sites across New England, including the four Vermont locations. New England volunteers joined more than 50,000 Comcast employees at nearly 500 community sites in 37 states and the District of Columbia, donating 300,000 volunteer hours of service and helping Comcast reach the milestone of one million total hours of service donated in seven Comcast Cares Days.

Beth Baldwin Page, Executive Director of the Boys & Girl Club of Brattleboro remarked, "We're so honored to be included in the Comcast Cares Day tradition. It's vitally important that our facility remain properly maintained. The projects completed by Comcast volunteers will help us accomplish this goal, and they are efforts that would have taken our own staff months to complete. In addition, our patrons will enjoy the new, vibrant paint colors when they return to the club on Monday. To say that we appreciate the efforts of Comcast volunteers is an understatement!"

The Comcast Foundation will donate more than $1.5 million in grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of the employees and family members who volunteered on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year.
